  Short while ago google had changed their ranking algorithm,   in the hope of offering it’s search users better results, google engineers published blog post which indicated there were 11.8% organic search results will be affected, in plain English, google thinks about 12% of it’s search results are really bad and need to manipulated. The update was initiated more than a year ago, and recently I see some of my ranks were lowered considerably, but almost all the ranks promoted by articles and blog posts were not affected, and a few of them even gained a few positions, it’s obvious that linking campaign the old way is the thing of past, probably due to links crammed sites being downgraded by google.

What is old way of link building any way? There are a lot of SEO company out there are doing this, they put your links on websites which only exist for holding links, the content on those sites will never be updated, almost all of them are garbage, we call these sites link spamming sites. New google algorithm most likely will punish these link spammers,  all the links on those websites will have the same fate.  

Examples will be great for explanation. In the very beginning, I didn’t know better, I needed to rank the keyword, Sash Chain, of course with old way of link building, a lot of sites I used had too many links, and the worst thing is that those sites are linking sites only and had no content, not even crap content. This strategy worked in the beginning, eventually the keyword could be found on first page, the party was over when google updated it’s algorithm. Now let’s look at another keyword, chain pullers, most back links for this keyword are from articles and posts, almost no plain links, you can imagine how this keyword ranks. Now contextual links win the battle, then what? It all boils down to content, when you create unique and quality content, you will attract readers as well as search engines.
